HOW DO I CRACK THE IBPS PO EXAM?

IBPS PO Recruitment 2019:
The official notification of IBPS PO 2019 has been released on 02-08-2019. The total number of IBPS PO Vacancy was 4336. It is 84 more than that of the last year vacancy 4252. The candidates should have started their preparation in full swing, as the exam dates nearing with just 5 to 6 weeks are left over. The prelims exams are to be held on 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th of October 2019. Also the mains exam will be held on the 30th of November 2019. It is not an impossible task to crack the IBPS PO. But a lot of hard work should go under this tedious process. For that a well planned preparation strategy and best quality study materials are must.

IBPS PO Selection Process:

The IBPS PO recruitment is done in 3 stages in the following order;

·         Online preliminary exam
·         Online mains exam
·         Final interview
The preliminary exam has 3 sections namely, the English language, quantitative aptitude and reasoning ability. The total marks for the exam is 100. Also the duration of the exam is 60 minutes. There is a negative marking for 1/4th of marks of each wrong answer.


The main exam is conducted for 225 marks including the descriptive test. The sections in this exam are the English language, data analysis & interpretation, reasoning ability & computer aptitude and general awareness. 
Interview is the final stage of the IBPS PO recruitment. In final score calculation, the marks obtained in both mains exam and final interview are taken into the 80:20 ratio respectively.

Exam Time Strategy for IBPS PO Prelims Exam:


·        Your first target is to clear the IBPS PO prelims cut off. In prelims exam speed and accuracy are the most important factors to clear the high cut offs. 
·        If you don’t get the answer right, don’t get tensed and waste the time. Simply skip the question and move on to the next one 
·        If you are not getting a question right, skip it immediately and move on to the next question.
·        Don’t do fluke works in the exam as negative marking will affect your overall score.

Quantitative Aptitude: Prelims

The level of exam will be mostly moderate as the competition is huge. First attempt the questions and topics in which you can score easily within less time period. Number series, simplification and quadratic equation are such topics that you can start first. Then DI will also be asked at easy to moderate level as it is the prelims exam. At last try to solve arithmetic word problems. 

Reasoning Ability: Prelims

As the competition will be very high try to attend more number of questions in this section. Also accuracy is very much important. Practice more moderate level puzzles of PO level using IBPS PO mock test packages. In this section start with syllogisms, inequalities and other easy questions. Then finally attend the puzzles and seating arrangements that looks of moderate level.
English Language: Prelims
Attempt all the fillers, cloze test and error spotting questions first, which could be done within few minutes if you are strong in these topics. Then move on to the jumbled sentences and reading comprehension topics. This is the simple strategy for this section.

Preparation Tips for IBPS PO Mains Exam:


After clearing the IBPS PO prelims exam, students have to attempt the mains exam. The mains exam will be tougher than the prelims exam. So, candidates should do a lot of hard work and rigorous practice to clear this exam.

  • Read daily newspapers and improve your vocabulary sills. This is the only way to improve your scores in this section. Also improve your grammar skills to score easily in the topics like error spotting fillers, etc. 
  • Practice more difficult puzzles and seating arrangements to develop your analytical and reasoning skills. This section will be the real test for the candidates as most of the questions will be in difficult level. Practice more mock tests accordingly. 
  •  For quantitative aptitude section learn more short cuts to solve the high-level word problems. Also learn more rapid calculation methods which will assist you to finish the problems quickly.  
  • For general awareness section read daily current affairs, static GK capsules, etc. This section is your key to score more marks. So make yourself strong in this section. Revise the capsule regularly before the exam. 

Interview Tips:

  • Be punctual for the interview with neat dressing.
  • Answer the questions in bold manner with good body language. Also maintain eye contact with every panel members.
  • Don’t lose your temper at any stage.
  • Be thorough with all the latest current affairs and banking technologies.
  • Develop your communication skills which is very much important for the interview round.
